Deepika Padukone is set to star in an impending cross-cultural romantic comedy being developed by STXfilms, a division of Eros STX Global Corporations, following her 2017 release xXx: Return of Xander Cage.
STXFilms chairman Adam Fogelson made the announcement on Monday. The studio is also in talks with Temple Hill Productions’ Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen (the Twilight franchise, The Fault in Our Stars, “Love, Simon”) to create the Deepika-centered film. Temple Hill’s project manager is Isaac Klausner.
“There is a reason Deepika is one of the world’s biggest stars from India. She is a tremendous talent with a highly contagious personality, and her profile as an international superstar continues to rise. While she has been a huge success in many Eros International films, we are very excited to be working on a romantic comedy with her and our friends at Temple Hill. “We believe that this project will allow us to tap into the spirit, voice, characters, and vibrant settings of India and New York in ways that made Crazy Rich Asians feel so realistic and raw,” Adam Fogelson spoke of the project.
Deepika expressed excitement about the project and expressed her desire to bring “impactful and dynamic” stories to the world via Ka Productions.
“Ka Productions was founded to create premeditated content with global appeal. “I’m thrilled to be collaborating with STXfilms and Temple Hill Productions, who share Ka’s ambitious goal and artistic vision, and I look forward to bringing influential and dynamic cross-cultural narratives to the world,” Deepika mentioned.
Deepika is currently shooting for Pathan. In the film, she will share screen time with Shah Rukh Khan. She has also appeared in an untitled film directed by Shakun Batra. She will also appear in the Hindi remake of The Intern, alongside Amitabh Bachchan.
